Workshop weekend!

Tomorrow, September 23, is the Design Theory workshop with Jennifer Laing.

The workshop will be at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, 3700 E. Mt. Vernon (just east of Hillside on Mt. Vernon), from 9:30-4:00. Lunch (pizza) will be provided.

Bring: Ideas! Photo clippings, sketches, notes on the animal you plan to design. Animal anatomy books are useful (I have some) for unusual animals. Notepad, pencil, eraser, ruler, and paper scissors. Mohair and ultrasuede you plan to use, if you have it. Ziplock plastic bags for pattern pieces.

Sunday, September 24 will be the Makeover workshop.

Since the church is (oddly enough) in use in the morning, this workshop has been moved to ::Lori Casey's house.

Bring: Sewing kit, doll needles, upholstery thread in paw-matching shades. Heads to be made over (or completed bears). Matching scraps of mohair and ultrasuede, if possible, and flesh-colored ultrasuede. Fiberfill. A range of eye sizes, including test eyes. Clear glass eyes for painting. Nail polishes in brown, green, gold, etc. Perle cotton in #3 and #5, brown and black. Small pieces of thin black leather and white ultrasuede. A sheet of black sticky-backed felt. Artificial sinew/eye floss. Pipe cleaners. Polymer clay in black (claws) or translucent white (teeth) if desired. Permanent pens (Prismacolor, Copic, etc.) in a range of warm greys, browns, flesh tones.

There is, as far as I know, still room for walk-ins, but ideally you should give us a call first... though at worst, we won't have enough pizza for you.
