The picnic is on!
The 2007 Teddy Bear Picnic will be held at my (Karen's) in-laws' place, Tuesday, June 5. I believe we usually move the official start time up to 6 or 6:30, but I'll be there plenty earlier so just show up whenever you can. Guests and family are welcome, too. RSVP only if you're bringing a giant crowd.The address is 5421 N. Boyd, Wichita (though really, it's closer to Maize), and it's just off 53rd Street North east of Ridge and west of Hoover. You can get off K-96 at Meridian and go north to the light at 53rd, then west, or you can get off at Ridge and go north to the four-way stop at 53rd, then east. There's a 53rd Street exit from I-135, but it may be under construction - you can get off at 61st, then come south on Meridian.
Boyd is a little stub of sand road that goes north (only) from 53rd, at the end of a line of trees when you're coming from the west (just past the white farmhouse). From the east, you can see the little cluster of three houses - Janice's house is the first one on the west. If you're coming from Meridian, you'll cross the river, then pass the sand pits. One of the sand pit entrances is just east of Boyd - it's a good place to turn around if you overshot Boyd, but I don't recommend actually going there on purpose.
They have two driveways, one wider one that goes up to the house proper (you'll likely see their red van in it, at least), and one closer to 53rd that looks more like a little road - gravel, one lane, and goes down between the house and the "shop" - a two-car garage with a pad in front of it. Parking is anywhere... on the wide driveway, on the garage pad, pull off onto the grass from the smaller driveway, or park on the side of Boyd.
Weather permitting, we'll probably set up picnic tables out back (north side of the house), on and around the deck where the grills are. Failing that, we'll be indoors (allergy alert - they have two indoor cats). posted by Karen in Wichita @ 5/16/2007 09:59:00 AM 0 comments
